Potluck RSVP
We have recently been questioned about the need for people to RSVP for the potluck. Although this was in the original email, I will elaborate further.
This is the first time we’ve asked members to RSVP for the potluck, and we understand that it represents a change from past practice. However, this decision was made thoughtfully and with good reason.
In previous years, preparing for an unknown number of attendees has resulted in significant food waste and unnecessary spending, particularly when purchasing and preparing perishable items such as meat and buns. It also placed a heavy burden on our volunteers, who spent many hours coordinating and cooking without a clear idea of how many people to expect. As you can imagine, there is a big difference between planning for 50, 100, or 200 guests.
To be more fiscally responsible and respectful of our volunteers’ time and effort, we are asking for RSVPs this year. This helps us budget appropriately and ensure that we’re not overspending or over-preparing. We hope the community will support this small change, as it allows us to host a successful and sustainable event for everyone involved.
We are still looking for volunteers to support this event, so we welcome your help in making it a success.
