OVERDUE ACCOUNTS & GATE CARD DEACTIVATION

To the Snowline Community,

Recently, the membership was notified that gate cards associated with accounts overdue by more than 30 days would be deactivated. This action was not an arbitrary decision, but rather an enforcement of an existing rule that the Board is obligated to uphold. It’s important to note that the current Board did not write this rule, but we are responsible for its implementation.

Unfortunately, the response to this notice has included a number of strongly worded and, in some cases, inaccurate accusations. We have been accused of targeting specific groups, unfairly penalizing renters, selectively enforcing rules, and misrepresenting Board decisions regarding gate card policies. We want to be very clear: these allegations are entirely unfounded. No member or group is being singled out, and decisions are made based on consistent application of existing policies.

We have also received feedback expressing that expecting timely payment of dues is unreasonable, and that limiting gate card access for delinquent accounts is unfair. While we understand that financial hardship can occur, the vast majority of our members meet their obligations on time, and it is our duty to ensure fairness to all by maintaining consistent standards.

In light of the concerns raised, we are temporarily pausing the implementation of this policy while we seek further legal counsel to ensure that our actions are in full compliance with governing documents and applicable law.

We want to remind everyone that the Board of Directors is composed of volunteer members of your own community. We are your neighbors, and we are committed to making Snowline a fair, welcoming, and well-managed place to live. We ask for civility and mutual respect as we work through these issues together.

Sincerely,The Snowline Board of Directors

It seems the only way to put R&R 11.2a into action to restrict access would be to follow By Laws section 7.10 that requires written notification and opportunity to be heard before limiting any membership rights.
